E Portfolios: A project for your college or
school
"I
always wondered why somebody doesn't do something about that. Then I
realized I was somebody."
– Lily Tomlin |
An Important Question: Why use professional Learn With Tech training if the
program is free?
Whether the program is free, or purchased is not really the important issue.
There are many programs available already installed on personal or school
computers. Most feel, as we do, that these, programs and technology itself is
underutilized.
Learn with tech assumes a greater goal than to introduce and teach a program.
Our attempt is to have the program work for you and your staff.
For example: Learn with tech will establish a naming convention for websites,
much like those that most organizations use with email (typically First Letter
of your first name followed by your last name @YOUR DOMAIN)
We teach what should NOT go on a website. For example personal information and
copyrighted materials.
Thus our goal is to have the E-Portfolio system utilized by staff and or
students, by your organization.

What should not go on the web?
Rationale and review of the the NYCDOE, Internet Acceptable
use Policy (IAUP).
Posting information on an
E-Portfolio can cause problems. With that in mind we ask ALL
to abide by the IAUP,
produced by the NYC Department of Education. As a
requirement for continuing we ask all to
1. Review the document
2. Submit* 5 most important elements of the IAUP with a
rationale.
Once received we will create an organization website for you
to begin.
*Submit via email to
dan@professorstein.com
Include: Your first and last name, your school or college,
Your title and the course you are in (if a student) or the
courses you teach, with course numbers (if a professor).
You will receive, in a short time, a template website with
username/password |

 The
Glass House ScenarioConsider that your Website is a glass house.
Anyone driving by can view your foyer, the wallpaper of the room, and
even pictures on the wall. They can even see what is playing on your TV
hanging on the wall.
To view all this all they need is the address of your glass house. |
